The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Crime Analyst to be a part of a historic undertaking, specifically the implementation of the Assembly Bill 109 Public Safety Realignment.
Under the direct supervision of the Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence Unit Sergeant and Gang Task Force Command Structure, you will perform systematic crime analysis including difficult statistical and legal research relating to the crime pattern detection, suspect-crime correlation, target-suspect data and crime forecasts. In addition, you will disseminate and communicate crime-related information to local and neighboring police, sheriff and probation departments, as well as state and federal agencies.
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience as a Crime Analyst in a law enforcement environment and possess a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Statistics or Quantitative Analysis, as well as a Crime and/or Intelligence Analyst Certificate. Requires strong communication, analytical and quantitative problem solving skills, the ability to produce documents using Link Analysis, Visual Investigative Analysis and Phone Toll Analysis to support investigations, knowledge of day-to-day budgeting and fiscal coordination, computer proficiency and the ability to provide information to participating agencies, deal tactfully with the public and work in a stressful law enforcement environment. Acquisition of a Certification in Crime and Intelligence Analysis issued by the California Department of Justice is required within 12 months of appointment.
