Crime Analyst and Crime Prevention Specialist - CSU Northridge

Major Duties

Under general supervision of the Captain - Special Services Division, the Crime Analyst and Crime Prevention Specialist is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and mapping crime and incident data, monitoring crime trends, and performing statistical research in support of police operations and overall mission of the department to reduce crime and apprehend suspects. The incumbent operates and maintains computer applications and performs statistical research relating to crime pattern detection, suspect-crime correlation, target-suspect data, and crime forecasts;  ; compiles and edits documents and reports; disseminates information relevant to actual and anticipated criminal activity to increase effectiveness of patrol deployment, crime prevention, and identification and apprehension of suspects; is responsible for the development, coordination, promotion, and execution of crime prevention programs, events, and services; develops advertising strategies for programs and services in partnership with the department's Public Information Officer (which includes networking and partnering with campus/off campus entities); creates/advertises annual crime prevention program calendar of campus tabling events and safety workshops; and performs other duties as assigned.
