Presented by Rhonda Maher

This presentation will be a step by step training on forecasting once a crime series has been determined.  You will be using a provided Matrix, and then will produce an actionable forecast/prediction of the next future crime in the same series. The forecast will be done in Excel spreadsheets using scientific formulas to help determine the projected date and time of when a crime will hit. The mapping and XY coordinates will be explained using calculations to determine the next most likely location of the series, to then be used with the date and time analysis to complete the forecast. ArcMap will be discussed to show the XY coordinates and how to geocode your locations to determine the next hit geographic location. In addition, since not all agencies have a mapping program available, Google maps will be used as an alternative to a mapping program in which each student will learn how to identify the XY’s in Google and what to do with them in Excel in order to determine the future XY coordinates.

Each student will be given a workable Excel spreadsheet and CSV files from which to work on their own computer. The Internet will also be used for training in the Google browser.  The Excel spreadsheet can be used as your Master Forecast spreadsheet for your future cases.
