Session Synopsis:

After implementing a successful, three month hot spot policing pilot project for her agency in 2018, Crime Analyst Erin Jones, with the La Mesa Police Department, will share how to run your own policing study. She will review what worked and what didn’t from her hot spot project and brainstorm how to select and sell your own project to command staff. She will review important considerations for all phases of study implementation and discuss how evidence based policing research will influence the future of crime analysis.

Bio:

As the only full time analyst for a small agency, Erin Jones is responsible for all crime and intelligence analysis as well as special projects and administrative analysis for Command. Prior to her decade working in Law Enforcement, Erin received her undergraduate degree in Political Science/American Politics from the University of California, San Diego and later her Masters in Public Administration from San Diego State University. She is a certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst through California DOJ and a certified Geographic Profiling Analyst. She is the current chair of the San Diego County Automated Region Justice Information System Working Group that helps direct regional law enforcement data management issues on behalf of the county Chiefs and she is a past President of the San Diego County Crime and Intelligence Analysts Association.
