Join us for an informative update on a new and widespread issue that is challenging law enforcement and public safety throughout California, that is, the proliferation of “Ghost Guns”, AKA “Privately Made Firearms” (PMFs). The background of the PMF issue will be discussed, along with current trends and what the future seems to hold in terms of addressing this problem. Firearm tracing and the “off-roster-gun” issue will be reviewed as well.

The presentation will be given by Steve Fortney, an ATF Intelligence Research Specialist who has been working for the ATF, Los Angeles Field Division, for 19 years. His work has focused on major case support as well as Crime Gun/eTrace training throughout Southern California, and now includes working with local agencies to maximize the use and effectiveness of the National Integrated Ballistics Network (NIBIN).
